The special issue edited by Françoise Montambeault, director of ÉRIGAL, and her colleagues Wagner Romão (UNICAMP, Brazil) and Frédéric Louault (ULB, Belgium) brings together no less than 7 articles written by experts of participatory institutions in Brazil. Together, these articles provide a global understanding of the issues at stake with regard to participation in Brazil. They also offer a reflection on the legacies of participation in institutions as well as on the challenges of Brazilian democracy.
