Why do research interviews? : Another successful ERIGAL method workshop!
WHY DO RESEARCH INTERVIEWS? : ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL ERIGAL METHOD WORKSHOP!

As part of the series of ÉRIGAL methodo workshops, we discussed today a very provocative question submitted by Prof. Durazo-Herrmann during the last workshop: why do research interviews?  

On this occasion, the professors members of ÉRIGAL engaged in role-playing and divided themselves into two camps: those who were pro-interviews and those who were absolutely against interviews. The arguments, each more provocative than the next, were mainly aimed at stimulating conversation and generating discussion on all the issues surrounding interviews: preparing for interviews to understand the context in which they take place, ethical issues, our positionality, what to do with the information gathered during an interview, security issues, and many more.

We ended the workshop with a provocative new question: to what extent is it possible to co-construct knowledge with civil society actors? Perhaps the subject of a future ÉRIGAL methodological workshop. To be continued...
