Professor of Development and International Cooperation at the Department of Political Science, l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM)

My research is in the field of comparative politics, feminist studies and social policies in Latin America.

My research and teaching activities focus on development policies, actors and issues as well as gender and social policies in Latin America. My research focuses on social assistance policies such as conditional cash transfer programs as well as family policies such as parental leave and early childhood care. In addition, I am working on the mechanisms of appropriation the norm of Free Prior and Informed Consent of indigenous people in Bolivia.

My recent work shows that anti-poverty policies, while they are gender-sensitive, reproduce inequalities between men and women. Moreover, in Peru and Bolivia, these policies reinforce neocolonialism.

My current research follows five main themes
Social assistance policies
Family policies
Free and informed prior consent
Gender
Conditional cash transfers
