gerardo.jose.luis.romero.perea@umontreal.ca

I am a master’s student in International Studies at the Université de Montréal, currently writing my thesis on the migration trajectories of Colombians in Quebec, under the supervision of Professor Patricia Martin. My research focuses on recent Colombian migration dynamics to Canada, analyzing how individuals with diverse backgrounds interact with mobility regimes that shape and influence their migratory paths.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Universidad del Valle (Colombia). My academic and professional background centers on the social and economic analysis of Latin American countries—particularly Colombia—through a multidisciplinary lens. I am currently a research assistant for the MEMO project (Complex Migration Flows and Multiple Drivers in Comparative Perspective) lead by the Toronto Metropolitan University. I also coordinate the Chair of American Studies at the Université de Montréal, in partnership with the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
