Kailin Lee
Master's degree student in political science
As a Master’s student in Political Science at Concordia University, I am working under the supervision of Dr. Tina Hilgers on my thesis covering the relationship between state legislation for, public opinion of, and community initiatives by trans people in Bolivia’s urban centres. I hold a Joint Bachelor of Arts Honours in Global Development and Political Studies from Trent University. Alongside specializations in World Politics and Latin American Studies, I also completed the Undergraduate Semester Programme at the Geneva Graduate Institute.
I am a Research Assistant working with Dr. Hilgers on her project “Informality, Violence, and Resistance in Latin America and the Caribbean.” Having lived, studied, and worked in Bolivia for several months, my research takes an interdisciplinary approach between comparative politics, ethnographic anthropology, and a critical lens on development in practice. My work within academia and in professional positions often highlights 2SLGBTQ+ voices. I am also the Chair of The Pearson Centre’s Youth Council. With experiences in public affairs, Canadian government, and policy research, I hope to use connections made to ensure the work I do is accessible to everyone involved and beyond.
