bertolotti.martin@courrier.uqam.ca

I am a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Université du Québec à Montréal, where I conduct my research under the guidance of Professor Nora Nagels. My research explores the emergence of new groups within the social movement for sexual and gender diversity, using a comparative approach between Quebec and Argentina. I focus on the relationships these new groups develop with more established actors, political parties, and the state, as well as on the emotional dimensions that drive activist engagement. A key part of my work is making research accessible — both the findings and the process — to the people directly involved.

My academic background is multidisciplinary. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Law and a master’s degree in International Relations, both from the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. In 2021, I completed a one-year research internship at the Research Chair on Sexual Diversity and Gender Plurality, in the Department of Sexology at UQAM. The study of activism for sexual and gender diversity has been the common thread throughout my academic path. I also interned at the Quebec Commission on Human Rights and Youth Rights and worked for seven years in the Judiciary of Córdoba (Argentina), where I was part of the AJuV action-research team for three years, focusing on access to justice for people marginalized due to their SOGIESC. Since November 2024, I have been part of the ÉRIGAL coordination team.
