I am an Indigenous descendant of the Mixe-Zapotec (Ayuuk-Disteé) peoples of Mexico. I hold a degree in Ethnology from the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH) and a Master’s degree in Women’s Studies from the Autonomous Metropolitan University–Xochimilco (UAM-X), and I am currently a doctoral candidate at PPEG-UNAM.

I have participated in academic and teaching activities related to human rights and the eradication of gender-based violence and racism at institutions such as the Centro de Investigaciones Interdisciplinarias en Ciencias y Humanidades (CEIICH-UNAM), the Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca (UABJO), the Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia, the Comisión Nacional para Prevenir y Erradicar la Violencia por Razón de Género (CONAVIM), the Defensoría de Derechos Humanos del Pueblo de Oaxaca (DDHPO), the Comisión para el Desarrollo de Pueblos Indígenas, and the Instituto Nacional de los Pueblos Indígenas (INPI).

My current research focuses on palliative care and end-of-life support among gender- and sexually diverse individuals in Oaxaca City and Mexico City (CDMX); this work falls under the “Identities, Bodies, and Sexualities” area of the PPEG program. My political interests, activism, and research center on the access to and exercise of human rights by racialized and gender- and sexually diverse individuals, as well as on the construction of mutual aid networks, autonomy, self-determination, collective care, and the eradication of gender-based violence and racism.

I recently organized the Seminar on Current Issues in Lesbian Studies (SEAL) at UNAM and participated in the research project “Revitalization and Strengthening of Community Knowledge of the Territory” in the Indigenous Nahua municipality of Hueyapan, Morelos, Mexico (PAPIIT IG300624).
