I obtained my PhD in Political Science from the Université du Québec à Montréal in 2019. During my studies, I coordinated the Groupe de recherche sur les espaces publics et les innovations politiques (GREPIP) and the Nycole Turmel Chair on Public Spaces and Political Innovations.

JI am a professor and researcher at CIESAS, Gulf Regional Unit. My work focuses on the issue of enforced disappearances, using a public action political sociology approach to analyze the development of search policies and active citizenship. I have conducted research on institutional transformations and social participation in contexts of violence, particularly in Mexico and Veracruz.

My trajectory combines academic training with field experience, including my work at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), where I coordinated the Program on Missing Persons in Mexico. In the academic field, I am part of the core faculty of the Master’s Program in Social Anthropology at CIESAS-Gulf, and I coordinate the University Program for Addressing the Problem of Disappearances and Human Identification at the Universidad Veracruzana. Through this program, I lead the training of professionals via forensic specializations — in anthropology, archaeology, odontology, psychosocial approaches, and identification management.
