My current research, supervised by Professor Nora Nagels, is titled: The Colombian State as an Apparatus of Class Domination: The Democratic Security Policy (PSD) as a Counterinsurgency Tool in Colombia (2002-2010). This project examines power dynamics and state mechanisms within the context of Colombia's armed conflict through a critical lens grounded in Marxist theory. My primary research interests include political violence, counterinsurgency doctrines, paramilitary groups, Marxist analysis of the State, and social movements in Latin America. These interests reflect my commitment to understanding systems of domination while contributing to emancipatory alternatives.

I hold a degree in Social Sciences from Colombia's National Pedagogical University (UPN) and specialized in public policies for equality in Latin America through the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), where I also completed a postgraduate diploma in university teaching. As a former instructor in history, political science, and philosophy in Colombia, I've developed expertise in Latin America's political and social challenges, with particular focus on structural violence and popular resistance movements.

My professional and activist work focuses on defending human rights and social justice by working as an educational and political advisor for the AWA Indigenous community. My involvement in social movements has led me to co-organize international human rights monitoring missions and to actively campaign in trade union and community spaces, such as on the board of directors of the Committee for Human Rights in Latin America (CDHAL). Currently, I hold the position of social justice officer at the Congregation of Notre Dame (CND) and combine my work as a research assistant at the Faculty of Political Science at UQAM with the presidency of the UQAM Latin America Committee (CUAL).

Languages: Spanish, French, English.
