roman.perdomo@umontreal.ca

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Political Science at the Université de Montréal, under the supervision of Françoise Montambeault. My dissertation is entitled “Whistleblowers in Latin America: Reporting Corruption in the Health and Transport Sectors in Lima (Peru) and São Paulo (Brazil).” I hold a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences (Latin American Studies program) and a research-based Master's degree in Political Theory from Sciences Po Paris. I also serve as co-coordinator of the Interuniversity Research Team on Inclusion and Governance in Latin America (ERIGAL).

My research focuses on whistleblowing and the implementation of anti-corruption policies in the public sector in Latin America, comparing the health and transport administrations in Lima (Peru) and São Paulo (Brazil). Following several months of fieldwork in Latin America, including research visits at the Universidade de São Paulo and the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, I am currently in the data analysis phase and beginning to write the dissertation.

In parallel, my work also examines the transformation of civil society and citizenship regimes in contexts of democratic backsliding, particularly in Peru.

I am a member of the Canada Research Chair in Participation and Citizenship(s), the Centre for Research on Politics and Social Development (CPDS), and an affiliated doctoral student at the Centre for International Studies of UdeM (CÉRIUM). I also collaborate with the Latin American Political Observatory (OPALC, Sciences Po) on an action-research project about the situation of whistleblowers in Latin America.
