Rose Chabot
Postdoctoral Researcher (FRQSC 2024–2026) at the Université de Sherbrooke, co-affiliated with the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY Albany)
I obtained my Ph.D. in Political Science from McGill University in 2025. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Université de Sherbrooke and the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY Albany) (2024–2026).
Adopting an interdisciplinary approach that combines comparative politics, feminist and gender studies, and public health, my research explores the situated processes involved in constructing women's rights—primarily sexual and reproductive rights and the eradication of gender-based violence. I focus on the strategies, discourses, and practices employed by feminist movements, states, and women themselves to question, challenge, and transform the implementation of reproductive and gender justice, health, and rights. Grounded in empirical research across the Americas—particularly in Argentina, Colombia, and Canada—my work illustrates how women’s and LGBTQI+ rights are forged through everyday negotiations among diverse political actors embedded in their local contexts, shaping the parameters of social inclusion for marginalized groups.
