ANNABELLE DIAS FELIX RECEIVES THE SQSP WRITING SCHOLARSHIP FOR PHD STUDENTS

Annabelle Dias Felix, Ph.D student in the Department of Political Science at the University of Montréal and member/coordinator of ÉRIGAL, receives the writing scholarship for doctoral students from the Société Québécoise de Science Politique (SQSP).

Summary of her thesis: Based on four cases, two favelas in Rio de Janeiro and two Mexican localities (the Tepito neighborhood in Mexico City and the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl), this comparative thesis demonstrates that there are variations in the implementation of public security policies at the local level. The thesis then reveals the sources of variation: it argues that the implementation of community-oriented policing programs is above all a co-construction between police officers and local actors.
