MANUEL BALÁN, PROFESSOR MEMBER OF THE ÉRIGAL, WON THE MCGILL PRINCIPAL’S PRIZE FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING

Manuel Balán, professor at the Department of Political Science at McGill University and member of ÉRIGAL, received one of four McGill Principal’s Prizes for Excellence in Teaching.

Professor Balán was pleased to accept the McGill Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching on October 29th. But this was not his first time receiving an award. Not only has he won five educational awards from the Political Science Association in the last three years, of these five, he was presented with two Best Course Prizes and the 2014 Teaching Excellence Award.

At the award ceremony, Professor Balan expressed how much McGill students impress him with their commitment and willingness to learn, and at the same time, does not want to neglect students who are more reserved in his classes. He seeks to find ways to integrate these students into the classroom and instill in them the desire to participate, even if it means utilising unconventional strategies that push professors outside their comfort zone.

ÉRIGAL congratulates Manuel Balán and hopes he continues on his winning streak!
