NEXT IMPORTANT ÉRIGAL EVENT: SUBNATIONAL METHODOLOGY WORKSHOP

ÉRIGAL is pleased to announce our next event, "Atelier de méthodologie subnationale comparée", which will take place at UQAM, in room PK-1140 (Pavillon Président-Kennedy; at 201, avenue Président-Kennedy), on Thursday afternoon November 9 and all day Friday November 10.

In vogue for some time now, subnational studies are still struggling to systematize a scientific methodology of their own, and thus remain at grips with the national bias of political science and related disciplines. Moreover, subnational studies must also confront the challenge of challenging administrative/state boundaries in the analysis of increasingly complex political phenomena - global-national-local, transnational - affecting subnational analysis in a vast repertoire of issues (social movements, media, political economy, regimes, etc.).

To address these challenges, this workshop aims to bring together researchers at all levels to discuss specific issues concerning the research of subnational issues, from a comparative perspective, systematically articulating theoretical reflections and field knowledge. We're offering two separate events: (1) a round table open to the public where guest researchers present their most recent research findings, and (2) a one-day workshop (registration required) with researchers and graduate students presenting and discussing their methodological reflections.

INVITED GUESTS :
André Lecours (UOttawa)
Anahely Medrano (Centro de Investigación en Ciencias de Información Geoespacial, Mexico)
Eliška Drápalová (Berlin Social Science Center, Germany) - online participation
Martín Echeverría (Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, Mexico)
Sandra Nodari (UQAM)
Tomáš Došek (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, Peru)

For registration purposes, anyone wishing to discuss a work intended for publication that involves a subnational method is eligible to take part in the Friday workshop. If you are interested, please contact Julián Durazo-Herrmann at:  durazo.julian@uqam.ca

We look forward to seeing many of you there!
